Numerous studies, along with our own work across medical, rehabilitation and employment fields, tells us that good work is essential for the wellbeing of people, families, and communities
MedHealth is a proud signatory of the Benefits of Good Work™ consensus statement, which can be found on the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) website.
This statement defines ‘good work’ as:
“engaging, fair, respectful and balances job demands, autonomy and job security. Good work accepts the importance of culture and traditional beliefs. It is characterised by safe and healthy work practices, and it strikes a balance between the interests of individuals, employers, and society. It requires effective change management, clear and realistic performance indicators, matches the work to the individual and uses transparent productivity metrics.”
Our experience shows that good work helps people to:
In our work across all brands, we promote the health benefits that good work can provide. We advocate for continuous improvement in public policy around work and health, and encourage employers to support good, meaningful and healthy work for their employees. We also support people to prepare for, find and sustain meaningful work that is right for their individual circumstance.
MedHealth’s Research Hub has been raising awareness of the health benefits of good work and promoting this concept for some time. We do this through best-practice and evidence-informed return-to-work occupational rehabilitation services.
