Arron is a 26-year-old Indigenous male from Western Australia who faced numerous barriers to employment, including a past criminal record, mental health issues, homelessness and long term

unemployment. With tailored support from atWork Australia that included counselling, confidence building, goal setting, financial help and support to obtaining housing, Arron was able to secure employment in his desired role as a forklift operator.

“I really like my job,” said Arron. “I feel my life is stable and secure now and my girls get to see their dad again.”

Arron’s story is one of immense achievement in how he was able to overcome such significant barriers and point his life in the right direction. Arron was a 2019 National Employment Services Association (NESA) finalist in the Achiever of The Year Category.
